We tested a variety of quick-detach mounts on a digital test stand capable of exerting up to 1500lbs of force. We then used this data to refine our original optic mount design, culminating in the LEAP; a quick-detach mount that is both the lightest and strongest on the market today.

A highly efficient clamp design guarantees precise operation and unprecedented rigidity: It features an oversize hooded thru-hole to buttress the thumbscrew's shank, which is the maximum possible diameter to fit a Picatinny channel. A pair of hardened steel precision ground pins is press fitted to the clamp and act as guides.

During its development, the Leap mount was subjected to dozens of stress tests before a single prototype was ever made. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) helped extract every bit of performance from every gram of material. This cutting-edge design process has resulted in the most efficient mount design possible.

Every Leap mount is CNC machined from 7075-T6 Aluminum billet, which has vastly superior mechanical properties to 6061-T6, and is used where ultimate strength and durability outweigh cost considerations.

The LEAP mount lets you shoot at your very best by eliminating snag hazards and putting nothing in the way of weapon manipulations. With its industry leading ClickDrive quick-detach mechanism, the Leap mount is symmetrical, protruding less than 7mm from either side of your Picatinny rail.

ClickDrive's low-profile thumbscrew and low-friction telescoping clamp require only the torque from your bare hand to securely attach onto a rail. An integrated spring-loaded ball-detent exerts enough force against the crown to make it completely recoil proof.

    Design, fit, and finish are superb. Even the packaging it was shipped in was very impressive – everything from the vacuum sealed mount to the perfectly aligned Scalarworks-branded packaging tape on the box. It says much about a company that takes care in packaging their product well. This is my second Scalarworks red dot mount. The first one has been so durable and dependable that I completely forget about it. It just blends into the rifle and makes it feel like rifle and optic are one piece. That’s exactly how I want a mount to feel – like it’s not a potential weak link in the system. The fact it’s also lightweight is a big bonus. I’ve probably put several thousand rounds downrange and out hunting with my LEAP/05 and have never had the retention system back off or lose zero, so no worries there. Solid design. Very much worth the reasonable price. Scalarworks has earned my loyalty.
