The Leap is the strongest Trijicon MRO Quick-Detach mount we've ever tested.

We put a variety of QD mounts on a digital test stand, capable of exerting up to 1500lbs of force, and analyzed load versus displacement data for each. We then used everything we learned from these tests to refine our original design, culminating in the Leap; a quick-detach mount that is both the lightest and strongest on the market today.

Scalarworks LEAP Trijicon MRO mount clamp

A highly efficient clamp design guarantees precise operation and unprecedented rigidity: It features an oversize hooded thru-hole to buttress the thumbscrew's shank, which is the maximum possible diameter to fit a Picatinny channel. A pair of hardened steel precision ground pins is press fitted to the clamp and act as guides.

Scalarworks LEAP Trijicon MRO mount FEA

During its development, the Leap mount was subjected to dozens of stress tests before a single prototype was ever made. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) helped extract every bit of performance from every gram of material. This cutting edge design process has resulted in the most efficient mount design possible.

Scalarworks LEAP Trijicon MRO mount 7075-T6 vs 6061-T6

Every Leap Mount is CNC milled from 7075-T6 billet, which has vastly superior mechanical properties to 6061-T6, and is used where ultimate strength and durability outweigh cost considerations.

Smooth is Fast

The Leap has no protruding levers, bolts, or knobs to rap your knuckles, or get caught on clothing, gear, and surroundings.

Scalarworks Leap MRO mount with ClickDrive quick-detach system

Our patented ClickDrive quick-detach mechanism is intuitive, self adjusting, and completely recoil proof. By decoupling clamping force from vibration resistance, ClickDrive doesn't need massive amounts of imprecise torque, and is not dependent on unreliable friction. A low profile recessed thumbwheel deflects external impacts, while letting you take the mount off in under 3 seconds, with or without gloves.

The Leap mount is the most deliberate evolution of our original design.

Scalarworks Leap Aimpoint Micro T-2 Mount generation 1

From its introduction in 2014, the original Low Drag Mount featured our recoil proof ClickDrive Quick-Detach mechanism, a precision telescoping clamp with world class return-to-zero, and a CNC milled base with the industry's highest strength-to-weight ratio, all while being as low-profile as a fixed bolt-on mount.

Scalarworks Leap Aimpoint Micro T-2 Mount generation 2

In 2015, the second generation Low Drag Mount became the first Quick-Detach mount ever to be CNC milled from 7075-T6. Its external edges were rounded to minimize stress risers, the thumbscrew was Black Nitrided, and a pair of integral shear lugs was added to the clamp to further improve lateral impact resistance.

Scalarworks Leap Aimpoint Micro T-2 Mount generation 3

Today, the Leap mount features an ever stronger base with a forward lean to provide more room for magnifiers, and chamfered side pockets for improved thumbscrew access. The re-designed clamp has discreet hardened steel pins and a stopper to indicate when it's sufficiently open to clear a Picatinny rail.

Extremely happy with my purchase. The bundle with the optic is a great value and is the best deal i found. There is no reason to go with any other mount, its easily the best on the market and i will be purchasing more in the future for other optics.

I purchased the mount because I’d seen other high profile shooters using them. Plus I figured by coupling it with the proven MRO optic I’d have a winning hand. While I am still waiting for the firearm on which the optic will be used to be being built, I still believe this.

The MRO is light by itself. The LEAP mount adds so little to the overall weight which is a huge benefit. I also got to figure that due to the geometry in the mount’s construction it won’t buckle of break under extreme use. I can’t say enough good things about this mount/optic pair.

The only down side I encountered is the mounting base was not wide enough to use with my chosen firearm. I would associate this issue with the manufacturer of the firearm and NOT Scalarworks. While it is a “pic rail”, it seems to me to be a wee bit thicker than a pic rail found on a forged, mil-spec AR upper.

Either way I am very happy with my purchase and I know I will get a lot of solid use out of it. The purpose of my comments is to make others aware of subtle differences between pic rails on various firearms in the wild.
