The Leap is the strongest Holosun AEMS Quick-Detach mount we've ever tested.
We tested a variety of quick-detach mounts on a digital test stand capable of exerting up to 1500lbs of force. We then used this data to refine our original optic mount design, culminating in the LEAP; a quick-detach mount that is both the lightest and strongest on the market today.
A highly efficient clamp design guarantees precise operation and unprecedented rigidity: It features an oversize hooded thru-hole to buttress the thumbscrew's shank, which is the maximum possible diameter to fit a Picatinny channel. A pair of hardened steel precision ground pins is press fitted to the clamp and act as guides.
During its development, the Leap mount was subjected to dozens of stress tests before a single prototype was ever made. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) helped extract every bit of performance from every gram of material. This cutting-edge design process has resulted in the most efficient mount design possible.
Every Leap mount is CNC machined from 7075-T6 Aluminum billet, which has vastly superior mechanical properties to 6061-T6, and is used where ultimate strength and durability outweigh cost considerations.

ClickDrive's low-profile thumbscrew and low-friction telescoping clamp require only the torque from your bare hand to securely attach onto a rail. An integrated spring-loaded ball-detent exerts enough force against the crown to make it completely recoil proof.

Love my leap 11 with my AEMS the only thing I’m wondering about is the gap. On the instructions it says it needs to have a .75mm gap. I’m wondering what the purpose of that is rather than having the optic sit flush to the mount. Other than that this combo is awesome.

Thanks for the positive review. The gap is approximately 0.75mm when dry fitted to ensure that the AEMS’ shear lug is actually engaging the mount. If it were flush right off the bat you’d be relying on the four M3 screws to take up impact forces in shear rather than in tension (not ideal). The gap all but dispears when the screws are tightened down.

Five stars, as always! This combination is what you want if you run night vision. The 1.93 is a great compromise height. The sight completely clears over the IR / laser illuminator on the front of the rifle. Also, the AEMS is outstanding while using passive night vision. I can clearly see everything through the site at past 100 yards. If you’re looking for just a night vision setup, a slightly taller mount would be more ideal, but this is entirely usable and works great as a standard red dot. For the money, I don’t think you can do much better. Spending more for Aimpoint or something else will cost twice as much for maybe 10% better glass. I love you can switch between the eotech practical and the 2moa dot. This is now my go-to site for my rifles.
